"Perhaps the most important aspect of my education at Taylor is how I have been challenged to question my faith. By question I do not mean doubt, but to put it to the test. An untested faith is not of any strength. Taylor is a safe haven in which students can ask the questions that they have always been afraid to ask... and search for answers. My faith has been challenged and stretched in many of my classes here, which has strengthened it immensly. I now have a stronger grasp on both what I believe and why I believe it."

Religion & Theology Major

Our Religion & Theology programs have a strong emphasis in biblical studies, with sub-emphases in theology and comparative religion.
- Biblical Studies. At Taylor we believe the Bible is God’s Word. As such, we also believe that we should take the very best that biblical scholarship offers no matter its perspective and use it to help us interpret and apply the Scriptures. To this end we offer students a full complement of courses in Old and New Testament, interpretation, biblical theology, and background studies.
-
Theology. Through courses in systematic theology, Christian spirituality, ethics, and worldview studies our students learn to think and live Christianly.
- Comparative Religion. Religious beliefs influence events on a local and global scale. This fact makes the sympathetic and open-minded study of other religious traditions crucial and required in our programs.
This threefold emphasis will help you understand not only your own faith, but the faith of others as well.
