Description:
The three-year (93 credit) Bachelor of Arts in Religion & Theology degree program provides a broad exposure to religious studies and theology, built upon a solid liberal arts foundation. This program is exceptional in its emphasis on biblical studies, balanced by attention to Christian theology and world religions.
Learning Outcomes:
Successful graduates of three-year Bachelor of Arts in Religion & Theology degree will possess:
- A thorough knowledge of biblical and theological studies.
- An appreciation of religious studies as well as its function and significance in society.
- A broad framework for understanding the cultural, social, scientific and religious aspects of society.
- A basic understanding of biblical and theological studies.
- The ability to integrate faith and learning in a balanced world view.
- The ability to think critically and creatively, forming independent judgments about issues, values, and beliefs.
- Superior reading, writing, and communication skills, including thorough knowledge of research practice and methodology.
- Familiarity with a variety of learning and research technologies, including electronic databases and indexes, research software and the Internet.
Concentration Requirements:
The concentration requires 30-36 credits in Religion & Theology, including:
- Biblical Studies: 12 credits consisting of REL 102, 103, 200 and 3 credits of senior biblical studies.
- Theology: 9 credits consisting of REL 262, 360, and one from REL 260, 261, or 265.
- World Religions: 6 credits consisting of REL 280 A/B.
3 to 9 credits of unspecified Religion & Theology courses.
- Students must take a minimum of 6 Religion & Theology credits at the 300-level or higher.

Recommendations:
Students are recommended to take at least one 400-level REL course in their final year.
Career and Professional Paths:
Graduates of the three-year Bachelor of Arts in Religion & Theology degree will have laid the educational foundation necessary to make positive contributions to society. Students will be ideally suited for a variety of employment options, such as not-for-profit, church and para-church work as well as religious journalism. In addition, it is excellent preparation for those interested in pursuing seminary studies.
