Financial Aid Application Information
Through the generous support of Taylor donors, alumni and churches, Taylor is able to offer significant financial aid to students, thus greatly reducing the cost of ministry preparation. A list of these scholarships and bursaries is below, and we are grateful for these friends of Taylor who have invested faithfully over mainy years in the future leaders of the church.
Here are the two documents needed.

Completed forms are must be submitted each year in order to be considered. New students’ Application for Admission to study at Taylor must also be completed in order for the financial aid application to be considered. The deadline for the Fall 2017 Term and the Winter 2018 Term is June 15, 2017.
Late Applications will not be considered.
Reimbursement for Unused Aid
Students who leave school before completing an academic term must return a portion of the financial aid received. This portion is based on the table found in the Refund section of the Academic Calendar.
Seminary Scholarships and Bursaries
The Seminary scholarship program awards those students obtaining above average grades with tuition reduction credited directly to a student’s account, 50% each semester. Students on academic probation or on disciplinary probation are not eligible.
Bursaries are able to be offered thanks to donations from generous friends, alumni and businesses. Some of these are awarded according to stipulations specified by the donor. Students on academic probation or on disciplinary probation are not eligible.
Alfred Krinke Leadership Scholarship
A scholarship of $1500 is available to a full-time seminary student who is entering the final year of their academic program and will complete their program in the upcoming academic year, has a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.70 and has demonstrated leadership ability. Additional application is required.
Alumni Student Partner Bursary
A bursary of $500 is available to a full-time seminary student who demonstrates financial need, has superior academic standing & acceptable Christian conduct, and intends to enter full time church-related ministry.
Catherine Poon Scholarship
Two scholarships of $1000 each are available to full-time students in the final year of the MDiv program that demonstrate spiritual maturity as they serve in the local church or mission field and who demonstrate financial need. One scholarship will be awarded to a student who has attained a minimum GPA of 2.50 in Systematic Theology and one scholarship will be awarded to a student who has attained a minimum GPA of 2.50 in Old Testament.
Daniel and Marie Hoffman Bursary
A bursary of $2500 is available to a full-time seminary student who demonstrates financial need.
Dr A S Felberg Memorial Bursary
A bursary of $800 is available to a full-time or half-time seminary student who demonstrates financial need.
Dr D Lemke Mission Bursary
A bursary of $3000 is available to a full-time program student in financial need. Preference will be given to a student who will be going into intercultural ministry and who is a member of an NAB church.
Donna Jensen Bursary
A bursary of $500 is available to a full-time seminary student who attends seminary as a career change later in life, or a minister taking advanced training after a time in the community, and demonstrates financial need.
Edith G Barton Trust Scholarship
Four scholarships of $1000 each are available to full-time seminary students who have completed at least 24 credits at Taylor (including two credits of Field Education) and who demonstrate spiritual maturity, ministry skills, high academic standard, leadership potential, ministry potential, and financial need. Preference will be given to students preparing for vocational pastoral ministry or vocational missionary service.
Edmonton Chinese Christian Church Scholarship
Scholarships are available to seminary students who have attained a minimum GPA of 3.00 and demonstrate financial need. Preference for one of these scholarships will be given to students enrolled in an Intercultural Studies program and members of the Edmonton Chinese Christian Church. Priority will be given to full-time students.
The Edmonton Korean Church of Sending Bursary
A bursary of $1000 is available to a full-time student who demonstrates financial need and evidences a Christian lifestyle. Preference will be given to a student who professes the desire to serve at home or foreign missions.
Ewald Breitkreuz Family Bursary
Two bursaries of $500 each are available to full-time Master of Divinity students who are members of an NAB church and demonstrate financial need.
Fred Leverette Memorial Bursary
A bursary of $500 is available to a full-time seminary student who demonstrates financial need.
German Bible Camp Bursary
A bursary of $1000 is available to a full-time or half-time seminary student who demonstrates financial need and is intending to enter full time church-related ministry.
Heinrich & Bertha Klukas & Family
A bursary of $1000 is available to a full-time or half-time student who demonstrates financial need.
Intercultural Pastoral Studies Bursary
A bursary of $800 is available to a full-time or half-time seminary student training to be a pastor of an ethnic church in the NAB Conference and who demonstrates financial need.
A bursary of $800 is available to a full-time MA in Intercultural Studies student who has stated an intention of working in an NAB or NAB partnered mission field upon graduation and who demonstrates financial need.
Kok Family Bursary
A bursary of $1,000 is available to a full-time or half-time international student who is pursuing a Master's degree at Taylor Seminary.
Lethbridge Bethany Baptist Bursary
A bursary of $4000 is available to a full-time seminary student, enrolled in a Master of Divinity or Master of Arts in Intercultural Studies program who demonstrates financial need. Priority will be given to students from the Lethbridge or Southern Alberta area.
A bursary of $3500 is available to a full-time Master of Divinity student, who has good Christian behaviour, and demonstrates financial need.
Lillian and Gerald Sass Bursary
A bursary of $500 is available to a full-time MDiv student who plans to become an NAB pastor or missionary and demonstrates financial need. Preference is that one student receive the award for three consecutive years.
Madeline Buckles Pape Memorial Award
A minimum of two $1,000 scholarships are available to full-time seminary students with satisfactory academic standing who demonstrate need.
Manitoba Baptist Association Bursary
A bursary of $1000 is available to provide financial assistance to a full-time or half-time seminary student from a Manitoba Baptist Association church who demonstrates financial need. If there is no eligible student, the funds may be available to a seminary student from any North American Baptist church.
Muller Family Bursary Fund
A bursary of $2500 is available to a full-time student who demonstrates financial need and whose primary emphasis is on Christian education and/or youth work and/or missions.
Richter Memorial Scholarship
A bursary of $500 is available to a full-time or half-time seminary student who demonstrates financial need.
Salem Church Bursary
A bursary of $3500 is available to a full-time seminary pastoral student, who is a member of an NAB church and demonstrates financial need.
Sigmund Berthold Memorial Bursary
A bursary of $500 is available to a full-time or half-time seminary student, who is not in the first year of their program, has an above average GPA and demonstrates financial need.

Westview Baptist Church Scholarship
A scholarship of $1000 is available to a full-time seminary student from an Alberta Baptist Association church located in the southern half of Alberta. If there is no eligible candidate it will be available to a full-time Taylor Seminary student from any ABA church. If there is no eligible candidate it will be available to any full-time Taylor Seminary student.
William Patzia Memorial Bursary
A bursary of $500 is available to a full-time or half-time seminary student working towards pastoral ministry, who is a member of an NAB church and demonstrates financial need.
Women's Ministries of the Manitoba Baptist Association
A bursary of $500 is available to a full-time or half-time female student from the Manitoba Baptist Association. If there are no eligible candidates, it will be available to a female student from Manitoba. If there are no eligible candidates, it will be available to a female student.
Taylor will award these bursaries based on the information contained on applications for admission and financial aid. These bursaries are non-repayable and are granted primarily on the basis of financial need.
Year-End Scholarships and Awards
Also, take note that a number of year-end scholarships and awards are awarded by the faculty on the basis of ministry, academic and leadership criteria (no application can be made for these awards).
Canadian Bible Society Bible Reading Award
Each year the Canadian Bible Society awards a Bible to a graduating student who has demonstrated excellence in the public reading of Scripture.
Dewey Intercultural Studies Award
This award, sponsored by former President Dr. Marvin Dewey and his late wife, Becky, is awarded annually to a second-year student who demonstrates competence in and concern for intercultural ministry.
Dan Leverette Memorial Scholarship
The Dan Leverette Memorial Scholarship is given to a Master of Divinity student who demonstrates ability in and commitment to the practice of youth ministry and is preparing for full-time vocational ministry with youth.
Goltz Family Scholarship
A scholarship of $3000 is awarded to a full-time program student who has completed a minimum of 18 credits who is preparing for Christian ministry; the award will be made on the basis of academic performance.
William Sturhahn Preaching Award
Made possible by the family of Dr. William Sturhahn, this preaching award is given to a graduating student who demonstrates the greatest proficiency in preaching and is seeking placement as a pastor in Canada.
Alumni Association Scholarship
The Alumni Association Scholarship is awarded to a student distinguished in academics and Christian behaviour and seeking placement in full-time vocational ministry.
Doris and Gerald Borchert Scholarship in New Testament Studies
The Doris and Gerald Borchert Scholarship in New Testament Studies is awarded to the full-time, second-year student who demonstrates the highest proficiency in New Testament studies.
The Faculty Scholarship is awarded to the degree student who earned the highest grade point average during the present academic year while completing a minimum of 9 credits each semester.
Sonnenberg Leadership Scholarship
Established by former President Dr. Joseph Sonnenberg, this award is given to a student who demonstrates giftedness in the area of leadership.

Arts Graduate Scholarship - Seven awards of $15,000 each. Sponsored by the Alberta Government. (Typically awarded to students in a traditional arts program, but a strong application from a student might make the case for literary studies, according to a department spokesperson.)
Northern Alberta Development Council Bursary - Willing to serve at least one year in northern Alberta in a high-demand career? The NADC bursary, sponsored by the Alberta government, is worth $6,000 per year for a maximum of two years.
Storewell's Foster Children Bursary - Applicant must have been a foster child in Canada or the United States, and must be at least 24 years of age. Sponsored by Storewell, a self-storage company based in Toronto, ON.
Monica’s Health Magazine Academic Scholarship Program - Open to all full-time and accepted students. Applicants will get a chance to win $2500 that will be used to cover academic expenses including, but not limited to, tuition fees, books, laptops, and other equipment. The three winners with the best applications will be selected and awarded $2500 each to cover the aforementioned expenses.
Government Student Loans
The following government loans may be available to Taylor Seminary students:
The Government of Canada offers Canada Student Loans to full and part-time post-secondary students who demonstrate financial need in most *provinces and territories across Canada. You apply through your province or territory of permanent residence which assess your eligibility and determine the amount of federal and provincial student financial assistance you can receive. Through the same application you may also qualify for Canada Study Grants, Canada Access Grants, a Canadian Millennium Bursary and provincial grants and bursaries– non repayable forms of student financial assistance.*The exceptions are Quebec, the Northwest Territories and Nunavut which operate their own student loans programs.
