The individual efforts of our faculty in publishing and speaking are one of the primary avenues that Taylor is able to contribute to Christian spiritual growth and development locally and globally, as well as to continue being part of the broader Christian Conversation.

Dr. Joyce Bellous

Joyce Bellous Professor of Christian Faith Education

In addition to her faculty responsibilities at Taylor Seminary, Dr. Bellous works as an Educational Consultant and Emotional/Social skills trainer with iHuman, a not-for-profit Drop-in Center for youth-at-risk in downtown Edmonton. In the winter months of 2014, she provided staff training based on a program she developed called Building for Resilience.

Dr. Bellous has been appointed as Chair for the Commision on Christian Education and nurture for the Baptist World Alliance (BWA) for a 5 year term, 2016-2020.

Speaking/Training:

  • Sept. 3, 2106: Presenting the Spiritual Styles Assessment to 65 children’s ministry volunteers and staff at Edmonton Christian Community Church.
  • Ongoing collaboration with Newman College Dean (Zoe Bernatsky), St Stephens (Margaret Clark) and Supervised Ministry Director (Carol Portratz) to advance the relationship between Supervised Ministry at Taylor and the CPE program in Alberta.

Dr. Carol Potratz

Carol Potratz-smDirector of Supervised Ministry

Dr. Carol Potratz has spent her life in educational and cross-cultural ministry, having served as a denominational leader, an academic and as a two-term missionary to Japan. She served ten years at Taylor (then “NABC”) as Associate Dean of Students where she developed close relationships with students who now serve in various ministry positions around the world.

Dr. Potratz was honored for her distinguished service with an honorary Doctor of Divinity degree by Taylor Seminary in 2015
