At their recent meetings, trustees of Taylor were presented with an RFD ("Request for Decision") regarding a proposal that could see the seminary becoming an official member of a consortium of western Canadian seminaries. The RFD asked trustees to formally approve detailed negotiations with ACTS regarding joining the consortium. A preliminary report on the possibility of becoming the 6th member seminary of ACTS was developed over the summer and fall, and was discussed at great length at the fall meetings of the Taylor Board of Trustees.
Trustees voted in favor of the RFD, meaning that the process has advanced to the next stage. More details talks with ACTS and its member seminaries will take place over the winter, with a view to be ready to consider a final proposal at the March 2013 meetings.
The ACTS consortium is headquartered at the Graduate School of Trinity Western University in Langley, British Columbia. The consortium is configured so that each member retains its independence, but shares institutional resources to gain operational and educational effectiveness and to better serve students.
Taylor trustees were encouraged by discussions to this date and by the preliminary report; all of us at Taylor will continue to appreciate your prayers for God's wisdom as we consider this significant new partnership, one that will help us be more effective and efficient in our mission.
A final proposal could be ready for the board's consideration at the next meeting of the trustees in March.
