Yoana Kyurkchieva (B. Music, M. Music, Artist Diploma, D.M.A.) Piano

Yoana Kyurkchieva Pianist Yoana Kyurchieva recieved her DMA in Piano Performance from the University of Alberta in the fall of 2014. She is a highly qualified teacher, soloist, accompanist, and chamber musician. She received her Bachelors and Masters degrees from the National Music Academy in Sofia, Bulgaria. Yoana then pursued a Masters degree and Artist Diploma at the University of North Carolina School of the Arts.

Ms. Kyurkchieva has been awarded many prizes and scholarships, including the Beryl Barns Memorial Graduate Scholarship, FS Chia Doctoral Scholarship and the U of A Scholarship to study at the Franz Schubert Institute in Baden, Austria. Yoana won first prize in the Academy Chamber Music Competition in Sofia, Bulgaria and first prize in the MTNA State Steinway Competition in North Carolina. Her solo appearances include performances in the Netherlands, Russia, Germany, Bulgaria, North Carolina, South Carolina, Virginia, Long Island, New York City and the Meadowmount Summer Festival in New York State.

Yoana studied piano with Stella Dimitrova, Atanas Kurtev, Tamara Poddubnaya, Viktor Chuchkov, Marina Kapitanova, Eric Larsen and Jacques Despres. She has taught private lessons to students of all ages at the Long Island Conservatory, NY and in Winston-Salem, NC. More recently Yoana has been a teaching assistant to Eric Larsen (UNC), Dr. Patricia Tao (U of A) and Dr. Jacques Despres (U of A).

Yoana is accepting new students on Mondays, Tuesdays and Saturdays.
