Title: Outreach Worker

Reports to: Program Manager – R. W. Tegler Youth Centre

Based at: R. W. Tegler Youth Centre (Edmonton)

Hours of work: Contract November 1, 2021. – June 30, 2022. Monday: 6am-2pm. Tuesday-Friday: 7am-3pm.    

Wage: Hourly. $15/hour plus 4% vacation pay

Hope Mission is a non-denominational Christian inner-city rescue mission based in Edmonton, Alberta. Hope Mission also has branches in Calgary, Red Deer, Wetaskiwin, and 2 summer camps.

Job Summary:

This contract position will support the School Nutrition team with preparing and delivering bagged lunches to partner schools as part of Hope Mission’s School Nutrition Program. As well, the team delivers weekly food hampers to families experiencing food insecurity.

Major Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Assist with school lunch preparation and delivery
  • Assist with food hamper building and deliveries
  • Assist with set up and cleaning for events and programs
  • Responsible for set up and clean-up of program space
  • Follow all covid-19 protocols
  • Other related tasks and duties as required

Minimum Qualifications & Skills:

  • Class 5 Driver’s License
  • Physically able to lift up to 50 lbs, run and play active sports and games with youth
  • Excellent communicator
  • Experience working in a kitchen
  • Food Safety Certificate an asset
  • Standard First Aid certification not required but an asset

Other Requirements:

  • Being a Christian Organization we require our employees to be in agreement and sign the Hope Mission Statement of Faith.
  • Must be legally entitled to work in Canada on a full-time basis.
  • Able to provide Criminal Record Check with a Vulnerable Sector Search and a Child Intervention Record Check
  • Must be able to provide 2-3 references
  • As we partner with Edmonton Public and Catholic schools we require new hires to provide proof of their covid-19 vaccination.
  • Adherence to Hope Mission’s Policies and Procedures
