Kids On Track is a community building organization that provides hope, direction, and ongoing support for children, youth, and their parents.
Educational, social, spiritual, and recreational elements are combined to deliver well-rounded programs. We cultivate relationships with participants encouraging their faith, character and leadership development, social skills, and a healthy lifestyle. We strive to support families that have limited opportunities due to various challenges.
Kids on Track is recruiting a new executive director to lead the organization in its first transition of senior leadership since its foundation. This challenging and exciting role is pivotal in ensuring that Kids on Track continues to serve its community and grows to meet ever evolving needs.
About the Role
The executive director holds a key leadership position in the organization. Under the authority of the board, the executive director is responsible to lead in communicating the vision and direction of Kids on Track. The executive director has the authority to direct the implementation of the organization’s programs, services, policies and procedures, and oversees the management of all staff members and volunteers.
Summary of Responsibilities:
- Provide spiritual oversight and wisdom to the organization
- Responsible for oversight of day-to-day operations
- Key face and voice of the organization
- Recommends and implements policies adopted by the board
- Hires, delegates, supervises, evaluates, and releases staff
- Attends all board meetings, and is invited to all committee meetings
- Serves as a professional consultant to the board and its committees
- Supervises the development and implementation of fund development activities and plans
- Engages in strategic planning with the board
- Post-secondary education in a related field
- Managerial experience – an asset if in the non-profit sector
- Funds development experience, including donor relations and grant writing
Knowledge, skills and abilities:
- Understanding of leadership and management principles as they relate to non-profit and voluntary organizations
- Knowledge of federal and provincial legislation affecting charities
- Understanding and awareness of current community challenges and opportunities relating to the mission of the organization
- Understanding the unique nature of family and youth centered programming.
- Knowledge of human resources management legislation
- Understanding of financial management processes
- Understanding of the planning and implementation processes for projects and special events
- Understanding of the components required in fundraising
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications
- Knowledge of Quickbooks and other donor management software would be considered an asset
Compensation will be commensurate with education, experience and comparable with positions in the non-profit sector in similar size organizations.
