The Canadian Church of God Ministries (CCOGM) invites eligible candidates to apply for the role of Executive Director. It is a full-time salaried position.
The Canadian Church of God Ministries:
The CCOGM (chog.ca) is a collective of twenty-four churches in western Canada who are part of the Church of God Movement, based out of Anderson, Indiana. This movement began in 1881, waving the banner of salvation in Christ alone, the unity of believers, and the holiness of God’s people.
The movement’s early leaders sought to forsake denominational hierarchies and formal creeds, trusting solely in the Holy Spirit as their overseer, and in the Bible as their statement of belief. These individuals saw themselves at the forefront of a movement to restore unity and holiness to God’s church. Their aim was not to establish another denomination, but to promote primary allegiance to Jesus Christ and transcend denominational loyalties. Jesus was the subject then, and Jesus is the subject today.
The western Canadian region is governed by a general assembly of representative church delegates who elect a Board of Directors. The Executive Director is accountable to the Board of Directors.
The regional office for the CCOGM is located in Camrose, Alberta. The office supports a team of paid and volunteer staff who serve with the Executive Director to fulfill the vision of the CCOGM.
The Executive Director works collaboratively with the Board of Directors to develop and accomplish the Strategic Outcomes for the CCOGM. This includes vision-casting, mobilizing local churches and leaders, leading staff and volunteers, developing ministries and programs, and providing administrative support.
An eligible candidate will be a visionary leader and catalyzer. This person will use their effective, public, written, and interpersonal communication skills to influence others and to paint a clear and compelling picture of the future for the movement. They should be highly relational and able to build consensus. The candidate should be a proactive self-starter who is highly motivated. A proven track record of developing and sustaining major projects and mobilizing leaders is essential. The person should be an effective planner who can manage multiple tasks and yet have the ability to be flexible and navigate changes when needed. The ability to maintain consistency and perseverance in the face of adversity are also assets.
The candidate will be a member of the clergy who can qualify for ordained ministry with the CCOGM. A theological degree is required, preferably at the graduate level. An appreciation and understanding of the Canadian context are a must.
