White Cross Shipment Leaves Taylor

A major shipment of relief supplies has left the Taylor campus, bound for Africa. Over ten tons of bandages, blankets and other medical and relief supplies were packed on a truck on December 16th with the help of almost 20 volunteers and were later transferred onto a shipping container for the trip overseas.

Most of these supplies were created and sent to Taylor by hundreds of volunteers at dozens of Canadian churches, while some other specialty equipment was donated to the cause.

The White Cross ministry is a long-standing effort of North American Baptist churches, with roots stretching back to the end of World War I. The NAB churches have long focused their efforts on medical missions in East Africa, and the items being shipped this week will be vitally important for the 5 Baptist hospitals and 65 health centres in Cameroon, as well as a hospital in Nigeria.

Taylor Alumni Association Official Meeting Update

Taylor Alumni Association logoDozens of people attended an official meeting of the Taylor Alumni Association on December 10th, and several others listened in on a conference call of the meeting. There was an extended discussion of the issues facing the association as well as Taylor, and a new leadership team was selected.

Feedback to the association was provided during Q&A, but also through a survey that was taken before the meeting. Over 120 individuals responded to the survey, outlining the issues they wanted to see addressed and voicing questions they have about possible new directions for Taylor in the future.

The past president of the association, Brad Kahler, commented at the end of the meeting that he was pleased with the discussion and the support for Taylor that exists, saying that he had never more proud to be an alumnus of the school.

A written summary of the meeting will be available in the near future.
