Dorie Gold (A. Dip., Dip. Music Therapy) –

Flute, Recorder, Flute Ensemble

Dori Gold

Dorie is a graduate of Capilano University, North Vancouver where she earned a diploma in music therapy while studying flute with Kathryn Cernauskas. She also holds an Associate Diploma from the Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music, U.K. Dorie attended master classes and summer school with such flute greats as Jeanne Baxtresser, Emily Beynon and Wissam Boustany. For 9 years Dorie lived and worked in Seoul, Korea where she performed with the Seoulmates Trio. Here in Edmonton Dorie’s students have continually won auditions for seats in the Edmonton Youth Orchestra. Many of her students have demonstrated excellence in RCM exams and other competitive situations. Dorie recently performed in a summer flute retreat with renowned teacher and performer William Bennett. She is a member of Trio Aria which performs regularly at Taylor and other locations in Edmonton.

Dorie’s overall teaching philosophy is to develop a life-long love of music in her students while giving them the tools to be better flute players. Dorie teaches all levels of flute and beginner recorder as well as directing the Taylor Flute Ensemble (adults) and the newly formed Whirlwinds ensemble for children.
