Taylor Alumni Event, April 24, 2004

On Saturday, April 24, the spring alumni event was held on Taylor campus! The evening was full of musical delights, comical anecdotes and good fellowship! Reminiscing, reconnecting and reuniting were the central aspects of the event.

Over coffee and dessert, fifty of Taylor’s alumni enjoyed the musical offerings of the alumni group, “The Collegiates,” heard testimony from alumni Micah Slavens, and got caught up on recent Taylor events from Mike Henry and Joanne Van Beek, two current students. Rob Merrifield, an alumnus, shared a Christian MP’s perspective on current state of the Canadian political scene. President Marvin Dewey shared the vision of the school and updated the alumni with Taylor’s current news. Neil Kaarsemaker awarded 3 distinguished alumni for their examples of leadership and servanthood for Christ. (Click here to read the article on this year’s “Distinguished Alumni Award Recipients.”) Old friends reconnected over stories of Chorister tours they had been on, pranks they had done and people that they knew. Alumni of all ages realized that their “eras” at the school weren’t so different after all.

Each decade of graduates was represented and each alumnus mingled with alumni from other years. The evening reunited past relationships and sparked new ones. All in attendance agreed that the Spring Alumni Event should continue in the coming years. Those alumni who were not there can watch for more alumni events to come!
