All aboard!—A new school year gets in gear

The summer has come and gone and the Taylor community is gearing up for another academic year. There’s a lot going on, we’ve said some goodbyes, and we’ve welcomed new faces (staff and students). There are also many changes in the lives of our alumni, and the most recent updates are now listed in the Online Bridge.

Taylor Missions: 2005 team returns from Nicaragua

Over the past number of years Taylor has sent an annual missions team to various far-flung places. Two years ago a planned trip to China had to be cancelled because of SARS, and the team went instead to Philadelphia. Last year saw Taylor students ministering to the people of Romania. The 2005 team spent two weeks in May serving Bluefields, Nicaragua with Samaritan’s Purse and Verbo Ministries of Nicaragua. Danielle Nicol, a 4th year English major, wrote to Taylor this summer describing her experience and how living Christ-minded leadership has made a difference in her world.

Staffing Changes in Taylor Alumni Relations

As many of you have read over the past few months, Christine Okken left Taylor this year to work in church ministry. Susan Grenz joined the department on an interim basis while the search continued to replace Christine, and now she has taken a part-time position as a Development Clerk. Steve Sutherland joined Taylor this past July as the ongoing face and voice in Alumni Relations.

2005 Distinguished Alumni Awards presented “On the road”

The last online bridge featured our 2005 Distinguished Alumni Award recipients and described the alumni dinner at which they were announced. With one living in Manitoba, one in Brazil, and the third serving a short-term mission assignment in Cameroon, the personal presentations took some creativity to arrange.
